After a week during which we had planned all kinds of multi-day trips-- Hamburg, Czech Republic, a Swiss/Austrian ski resort-- all hampered by the odd combination of injury and work, we got up early and headed to Salzburg for a long day of running around.
And the day we chose was a snowy one. But it wasn't too snowy to hike through two small mounts, check out a castle or two, climb up into the catacombs built into a cliff, eat kilos of Salzburger Nockerl, and finish off the day with a juicy wienerschnitzl. All in all, it was a glorious, tiring, last-minute success.
