When he heard that I was going to Munich for the holidays, my great uncle wrote me an email, asking me to get in touch with good friends of his whom he knew when they were grad students at U.C. Berkeley.
"Hello, Jorg?"
"Yes."
"Hi. My name is Russ, I think you know my great uncle, Ben..."
The first thing that Jorg did, after answering his doorbell when we arrived, was produce a photo of my great uncle from roughly 30 years ago. Little did I know that he and Maya had actually rented the downstairs apartment in my great uncles old house-- for 3 years! "Practically family," they said.
