APPEARING:
One of my favorite things to do in Southeast Asian cities, is get lost. Heading South and East from the direction of Uncle Ho's mausoleum, I wandered through a maze of streets, ranging from single lane to three feet wide. Under an awning filled with smoke from the BBQ beneath, I met a group grabbing lunch, and the proprietor sitting in his chair, already a bit tipsy from the local brew.

In an alleyway, I met a father and child.

Emerging from a tight passageway, where I was stuck in a motorbike traffic jam (two bikes could barely squeeze by if their riders leaned outward and walked the bikes-- not if loaded with chickens and freight), I found a woman spreading her vegetables across the ground in order to entice shoppers.
