This year, the foliage was out of whack. By the time the reds were showing, the yellows were spotted with brown, the greens still held fast, and some leaves had simply let go to reveal naked branches.
Wandering around the house, inside and out, the drabness seemed to push back in places. The fog wouldn't quite let up, but amid the damp, almost moldy air, more limited signs of life and color shown as if in preparation for recovery next year.
